Depression

Out of all the many reasons people come to counselling, depression is one of the more common. Depression can range from being in low spirits for a period of time to a completely dehabilitaing shutdown when even getting out of bed feels impossible. At it's worst, depression can lead to suicidal thoughts.

Feeling sad or experiencing a low mood is, of course, part of life. But when these feelings escalate and refuse to move is when depression can creep in.

As a counsellor, I work with clients and attempt to feel their depression; to be there with them as they try to understand and live with the overwhelming sadness and despondency they may feel. By exploring a client's past patterns of relating, their relationships with others and themselves and how they deal with accepting and processing the harder sides of life we can begin to lift the veil of depression.

By bringing to light aspects of a client's life, the depression can be felt and the feelings surrounding it acknowledged.

If you feel depressed and can't see a way to get out of the darkness  I welcome your call or email. Together we will sit with the feelings, understand them and focus on a new way of being filled with positivity.
